Family
Candi has spent the weekend with her family, her 2 sisters, nephew, Jen, Tay and Kenzi and of course her wonderful side kick Pete! Much needed time with her family!!!!
The Fight for Candi
Candi Troia has hit an obstacle in her life. She was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer, and scans show it has reached her bones and lymph nodes. The doctors have decided to start an aggressive treatment of chemo and radiation, but prognosis given to her is about one year to live.
While Candi continues to go through her everyday activities, and smiles for us all saying “I can beat this” she also carries the burden of fear. Fear of the unknown. She is not ready to put down her sword and accept this disease as being stronger than her, but she also knows that she has the battle for her life right in front of her. The race against time and the means to implement her choices are a huge concern.
Health insurance is a great comfort, but for sure doesn’t cover all the expenses involved, and with Cancer…the overflow can be devastating. The loss of work during treatment and the non covered portion of the bills are enough for anyone to handle, but having the financial means to be able to seek alternative treatment to hopefully save your life is non existent.
Candi has a goal. After doing some aggressive research, she would like to go to the American Cancer Society in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Research has shown a very positive atmosphere where they are better equipped to handle this type of cancer with great success. The comfort of feeling like you are doing everything you can to win the battle is a great portion of the battle. She needs to go, for herself. Insurance will cover what it covers, but there will be additional expenses to live away from home during treatment, travel, etc. Candi is usually one of the first to always step up to the plate to lend a helping hand wherever she can, but yet she doesn’t feel right being the one who can use that type of help herself. As fate would have it…she is.
An account has been set up for Candi Troia at US Bank with account # 00000000000000. We are asking anyone who is willing and able to support Candi in her journey to Oklahoma, and to help ease her mind in this battle for her life. It’s very difficult to admit you need help sometimes. And that’s why we, as her friends, need to do this for her. It’s our way of being able to fight this battle “with” her.
If you are willing, and able to be “with” Candi during this battle, please make a deposit (of any amount) into the account number provided at US Bank.
